  The 16th International Conference on High Performance Computing (HiPC 2009), to be held in Kochi (Cochin), India, during December 16-19, 2009, will serve as a forum for presenting current work by researchers from around the world as well as to highlight activities in Asia, in the area of high performance computing.

  Contributed Papers
  The technical program will consist of 49 contributed papers chosen from 261 submissions from 20 countries. The papers will be presented in 8 sessions.
   
  Panel on Cyberinfrastructure
  On Friday, December 18th, the conference will feature a plenary panel focussed on Scientific Frontiers, High Performance Computing and Cyberinfrastructure, which will be moderated by Thomas Zacharia from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA, and will include distinguished panelists including Edward Seidel (National Science Foundation, USA), David Keyes (Applied Physics & Applied Mathematics, Columbia, USA) and Jeff Nicols.
   
  Student Research Symposium
  HiPC 2009 will feature the second student research symposium on High Performance Computing on Wednesday, December 16th, aimed at stimulating and fostering student research, and providing an international forum to highlight student research accomplishments. The one-day symposium will feature brief presentations by student authors on their research, followed by a poster exhibit, and will be followed by a reception and industry-student mixer.

HiPC 2009 will host 4 workshops on Wednesday, December 16th.

  Tutorials
 
HiPC 2009 will feature the following tutorial on Wednesday, December 16, which will be open to all conference attendees.
  Modeling Complex Storage Systems

  User/Industry Symposium
  The symposium will bring together providers and users of HPC to provide a forum for presenting the state-of-the-art in HPC platforms and technologies, for discussing best practices and for exchanging experiences. This two-day symposium, to be held on Thursday, December 17th and Friday, December 18th, and will feature sessions on a range of topics including migration to cloud computing, storage solutions, and system design for data center scale.
   
  Industry/Research Exhibits
  This two-day exhibition session, to be held on Thursday, December 17th and Friday, December 18th, will consist of exhibits/presentations from vendor companies and R&D laboratories.

  Information for India-Based Participants
  Registration at reduced rates is made possible for India based faculty, students, and researchers through sponsorships from India based industries and organizations. Travel scholarships for India based students are available on a merit basis to promote HPC research in India.
