On Friday, December 18th, the conference will feature a plenary panel focussed on Scientific Frontiers, High Performance Computing and Cyberinfrastructure, which will be moderated by Thomas Zacharia from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA, and will include distinguished panelists including Edward Seidel (National Science Foundation, USA), David Keyes (Applied Physics & Applied Mathematics, Columbia, USA) and Jeff Nicols. |

Student Research Symposium |
| |
HiPC 2009 will feature the second student research symposium on High Performance Computing on Wednesday, December 16th, aimed at stimulating and fostering student research, and providing an international forum to highlight student research accomplishments. The one-day symposium will feature brief presentations by student authors on their research, followed by a poster exhibit, and will be followed by a reception and industry-student mixer. |

This two-day symposium, to be held on Thursday, December 17th and Friday, December 18th, and will feature sessions on a range of topics including migration to cloud computing, storage solutions, and system design for data center scale. |
