Call For Workshops
31st IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data, & Analytics
The 31st annual IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data, and Analytics (HiPC 2024) will be held in Bengaluru on December 18-21, 2024. Complementing the main technical program, the HiPC workshops broaden the conference’s technical scope in emerging areas of high performance computing, networking, data analytics, and their applications.
HiPC workshops are held on the first day of the conference and will typically be half-day events (3-3.5 hours), although proposals for full-day (6-7 hours) workshops will also be considered. Workshops should have contributed papers to their program and can have invited talks, poster sessions, and panel discussions as part of their technical program. Workshop organizers are responsible for preparing the call for papers for their workshops and peer-reviewing all submissions by 2 reviewers or more per the conference and IEEE guidelines. Papers accepted for presentation at the HiPC 2024 workshops will be included in the workshops volume of the conference proceedings with a separate ISBN (HiPCW 2024). They will be distributed online unless the workshop organizers want it otherwise. Post-conference, papers presented at the conference and eligible for inclusion will be made available to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
All papers accepted at the workshop should have an in-person presentation by an author at the conference. There is no virtual presentation option. Each workshop paper should be accompanied by an author registration for the main HiPC conference. All participants at the workshop should be registered for the main conference.
As a courtesy, the conference will offer one complimentary registration to an invited/keynote speaker to participate in the workshop.
Important Information:
Workshop proposal submissions (open): June 1, 2024
Workshop proposal notifications: July 14, 2024
Workshop Website and CFP published by the workshop organizers: July 21, 2024
Workshop organizers should further note the following recommended deadlines for their workshop organization to coordinate the proceedings of the main conference:
Submission site open (latest by): September 1, 2024
Full Paper submissions (latest by): October 11, 2024
Author notifications (latest by): November 6, 2024
Individual Workshop Advance Program published (latest by): November 10, 2024
Camera-ready version (firm deadline): November 15, 2024
Conference dates: December 18-21, 2024
Workshop Themes:
The topics of the proposed workshop should complement those listed in the main conference call for papers. Each workshop should center on a coherent theme or topic related to HPC and/or scalable data science. We particularly encourage workshop themes that relate to emerging technical areas and/or emerging application contexts of societal value (e.g., agriculture, energy, sustainability, workforce development).
Workshop proposals must clearly state the purpose and the applications of the techniques in the abstract. Workshop proposers must also identify how they will attract papers and speakers.
What/ Where to Submit:
Potential HiPC workshop organizers should submit a workshop proposal that contains the items listed below. The proposal should also specify steps to develop a high-quality program committee and attract high-quality submissions to place the workshop(s) in a competitive international landscape. While submitting a proposal for a full-day workshop, the organizers should explain how they will attract sufficient participation to develop a full-day program of peer-reviewed papers.
Proposals to organize a workshop at HiPC 2024 should include:
1. Description: title; topics to be addressed; goals; relevance and significance to the main conference.
2. Names, affiliations, and contact information for organizers, along with prior experience in organizing such events, if any.
3. Details of prior editions of the workshop.
4. Plans for soliciting submissions and the process for selecting papers to be presented at the workshop and included in the workshop proceedings. This is important since poor outreach can lead to an inadequate number/quality of submissions.
5. Tentative names of Keynote/ invited speakers.
6. Tentative program outline identifying key elements such as panels, discussion sessions, poster sessions, invited talks, etc.
7. A tentative list of PC members to be recruited.
8. A detailed timeline of the peer-review process.
The proposal should not exceed three pages and be submitted as a PDF file to the HiPC Workshops Chairs at [email protected].
For additional information about organizing an HiPC workshop, see the FAQs sheet on the website.
